Catching Up & Goofing Off

Still tending to things neglected during the last ten days or so of NaNo--cleaned out email, listened to a week's worth of news podcasts, finished one novel and started another, de-cluttered my 'office' and my closet, crocheted eight bookmarks, relaxed, played freecell.
Most of the time I was crocheting while listening to those news pods or TV but some of the time I wasn't and when there was silence while I worked my thoughts gravitated to my story world. I think I may have made a mistake in denying myself the crocheting during NaNo. It seems to help my thinking to have my hands busy. It's not that I didn't already know that but I also know that I tend to get hyper-focused and feared I'd end the month with 150 bookmarks and only 15K in words.
I hoped to encourage the hyperfocus on the NaNo novel and eventually I did but not until after Thanksgiving. Which is interesting in that Thanksgiving day involved a lot of non-NaNo socializing and during much of that I was crocheting. I started a complicated bookmark that day and worked at it over the weekend--the same days I did the most word-count of any other three day period the entire month.
I wonder if I should incorporate crocheting (or cross stitch, or needlepoint) as an integral part of my writing work habits.
Something to think about. Meanwhile, I'm anxious to get back to the novel I started this morning, Once in a Blue Moon by Eileen Goudge. It's a library book and I waited until the day it was due to start it. But I have until 5AM Monday to finish it without incurring a fine.
