Save the Internet!

Why should net neutrality matter to you?

What if the rules of the road changed such that stop signs were manned by bribe-takers? Or the freeways were only for the rich or big corporations? Or there was a toll at every intersection and on/off ramp?

Still don't get it? Watch the video!

I spent the last ten days contemplating being locked out of my public library in 2007! It seems some are arguing I should be locked our of the Internet too!!!

If you are not someone who can afford significant fees to insure that your emails download in seconds rather than minutes, this must matter to you too.

Joy, if I may give my two cents from the other side of the net neutrality debate.

I have been following this debate in my work with the Hands Off the Internet coalition. Speaking of big and rich corporations, the large content providers (ie Yahoo, Amazon, Google, ebay) are all strongly support net neutrality so that they can avoid paying their fare share of the infrastructure upgrades to fiber which will enhance their ability to provide content. The consumers shouldn't be stuck paying this cost and under the proposed net neutrality regulations the ability of the ISPs to get a return on their investment is severly limited.

In addition, it would be prohibited for any ISP to prioritize VoIp, IPTV or any other packet over a spam email packet. We don't need to over regulate the internet based purely on speculation.
