Like Riding a Bike
by Joy Renee

Serenity is like
Riding a bike.
A skill once acquired
That's never retired
Tho it long goes unused
And I could refuse,
After taking a fall,
To get back in the saddle.
Serenity is simple:
Feet on the pedals
Push. Push. Push...
My mind is hushed.
Wheels go round,
Devouring ground.
Shush. Shush. Shush.
My ears awash.
Time is neither
There nor here.
Past my face
A rush of space,
And nothing is
Except this.
And this is NOW
Balanced on the WOW
Perched upon the seat
Of Eternity.

No. You aren't having a deja vu moment. This is a reworking of the poem I posted last week. A complete reworking as it is more than twice as long now. I wasn't planning to use this one this week but I'm still working on my Friday Snippet. This weekend just did not go quite as I planned. But then, when does it ever?

6 tell me a story:

I never would have thought to compare serenity to riding a bike. Very well done.

What a comparison. I do like that!

... yeah, I went and checked the date. *blush*

Serenity IS going for a ride. Especially a flat ride 'cause once you throw those hills in, all bets are off... although I do tend to feel serene once I get to the top. Winded and beat and not a little bit triumphant, but there's a serenity in that, too.

I like the longer version, especially the ending. Very nice. :)

I like it when you descrive how you see an emotion!
